Educational Psychology
Manchester Virtual School works with One Education to provide free Educational Psychology consultations for Designated Teachers in education settings and Social Workers, to support them in their work with children and young people in the care of Manchester.
The Virtual School Educational Psychology service predominantly supports children and young people who experience special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) in the following categories, as outlined in the SEND Code of Practice:
Social, emotional and mental health
Communication and interaction
Cognition and learning
Sensory and physical
The Virtual School Educational Psychology Service also supports children and young people in the care of Manchester, who experience other vulnerabilities who may also have SEND. These include children and young people:
At risk from school exclusion
In the care and/or youth justice system
Who are very anxious about being in school which impacts on their attendance
Exploring and understanding their identity (e.g. gender, ethnicity, orientation)
At risk of not being in education or employment
Unaccompanied asylum seeking children
